The office of the Macon County Prosecuting Attorney is a part-time office. The office has two part-time and one full-time staff member, listed below.

Insufficient Funds Checks or "Bad Checks"


The Macon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is pleased to announce that we provide, as a free service to the citizens of Macon County, the collection and prosecution of bad checks that have been passed in Macon County, Missouri. This service costs you, the taxpayer, nothing, and all administrative costs associated with collecting these bad checks are paid by the bad check writers. 


Bad checks are bad for business, the economy, and the Macon County community. Bad checks cost our community thousands of dollars each year. A loss to a community merchant is a loss to the entire community. We are confident that with your help, we can continue to collect bad checks and successfully prosecute bad check writers. 

About Josh Meisner


Josh Meisner obtained his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Missouri Western State University, his Master of Science in Criminal Justice from The University of Central Missouri, and his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University School of Law. 


Josh was raised in Macon, Missouri, and has spent the majority of his life here. He has been the Macon County Prosecuting Attorney since 2011. Prior to that, he worked as an assistant prosecutor, handling a felony case load in Johnson County, Missouri, as well as in private practice. 


In addition to his duties as prosecutor, Josh represents plaintiffs in personal injury cases at The Meisner Law Firm, LLC.
