Macon County’s park system is one of the finest around with eight public parks, five public tennis courts and three swimming pools. As the county seat, we're also home to the Macon County Fairgrounds where a variety of activities are enjoyed throughout the year. Festivities like old-fashioned ice cream socials, a family style 4th of July celebration, picnics and parades can be enjoyed throughout the cities located within the County.
Macon County has one of the finest Army Corp of Engineers lakes in the Midwest and nearly 25,000 acres of water where fresh water fishing, boating, skiing, swimming and sunning are enjoyed throughout the seasons. For the active sports enthusiast, Macon County is widely known for its excellent hunting, fishing and water sports. Each year, hunter’s bag record numbers of wildlife in our fields and woods and for the fisherman we have many small ponds where bass or crappie can be caught. |
